New Gainesville Wachovia president

GAINESVILLE - Wachovia has named Doug Higgins city president for Gainesville and area president for Northeast Georgia. Higgins replaces Mike Whitmire, who has retired after 27 years with Wachovia. Whitmire will continue to live in Gainesville.<br> <br> Higgins has extensive knowledge of the industry with 20 years of banking experience. Since joining Wachovia in 1992, he has held various sales, leadership and management positions. <br> <br> In addition to his most recent role as area executive for Walton, Newton, and Rockdale counties, he has worked in retail, business banking and corporate banking.
