Former Georgia Tech star Matt Kuchar is going to the Masters by the slimmest of margins and a wild sequence of events on two continents.

Kuchar's victory in the Honda Classic moved him up 99 spots, to Number 50, in the world ranking yesterday, the cutoff for getting invited to Augusta National. He finished a 0.38 points ahead of Number 51 Steve Lowery.

But there's more to his good fortune.

Billy Andrade finished in a tie for fourth at the Honda Classic with a 16-under 272. Had he finished one stroke better in a tie for third, Andrade would have been ranked Number 50 this week, instead of Number 53.

Lowery and Andrade, who lives in Atlanta, were already in the Masters.
The bad luck falls to Pierre Fulke of Sweden, who finished Number 51 in the ranking. Fulke failed to birdie the par-five 18th hole at the Dubai Desert Classic and finished in a tie for 20th. Had he finished 20th outright, he would have been Number 50.
And Kuchar would have had the week off during the Masters.
