GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA - In following new coach Ron Zook's rules, Florida officials removed a fan from the first day of spring practice Tuesday after he refused to stand to watch the Gators work out.
Zook has instituted a rule requiring all coaches, players and spectators to stand throughout all practice sessions.
A small set of metal bleachers that used to be stationed on the sideline of the practice field for spectators has been removed.
After practice, Zook said he was unaware the spectator had been thrown out, but he reiterated the policy.
``It's a place of work,'' Zook said. ``I think the players appreciate it. Those are the rules. If they want to sit down, then they should come to practice when we are in The Swamp.''
The Gators will scrimmage at Florida Field on Saturday, and at least two more times during the 15-day spring session. The rest of the practices will take place on the regular practice field, where the standing-only policy is in effect.
