Clemson pounds Georgia Southern

CLEMSON, S.C. - Clemson pounded out 23 hits for a 20-8 victory over Georgia Southern on Tuesday. <br> <br> Clemson (11-0) took the lead with a seven-run second inning that included designated hitter Jeff Hourigan&#39;s first career home run. Jarrod Schmidt also homered in the inning to finish the scoring. <br> <br> Georgia Southern (12-6) got on the board first with a solo homer by Chris Walker in the first inning. Clemson quickly tied in the bottom of the first when a single by Jeff Baker scored Kyle Frank. <br> <br> The Eagles scored again in the top of the second, but Clemson&#39;s seven runs put the Tigers head for good. <br> <br> Khalil Green led Clemson, going 5-5 with three RBIs, including a home run. Seven Tigers had multiple hits and five had two or more RBIs. <br> <br> The Tigers took a 13-2 advantage in the third inning on Michael Johnson&#39;s eighth home run of the year. <br> <br> Ryan Childs (2-0) struck out four, while giving up four runs on eight hits for the win. <br> <br> Scott Tolbert (0-1) gave up eight runs on six hits to take the loss. <br> <br> The Eagles, who started off with five losses, had won 12 straight games.
