Gainesville to host State Golf as preps stay busy

It's another busy day on the high school sports scene Thursday.<br>
<br>
Scheduled action includes baseball- Lakeview hosting Towns County; Riverside at Banks County, and Stephens County at Habersham Central.<br>
<br>
The Riverside/Towns baseball game scheduled Wednesday had to be postponed until later because of wet field conditions.<br>
<br>
In track and field, East Hall is slated to travel to Habersham, while Riverside hosts White County, and the Johnson teams, as well as the West Hall girls and Buford boys are all scheduled at South Forsyth.<br>
<br>
On the links, the Johnson and East Hall golf teams are scheduled to get together as are the Providence and Buford golfers.<br>
<br>
Wednesday, the Gainesville boys lost their season opener by two strokes 158-160 to Hab-Central at Chattahoochee. Major Manning shot 36 for Habersham. Morgan Nix led Gainesville with a 37.<br>
<br>
It was announced at Thursday's Gainesville City Council meeting that GHS will serve as the host school for the AAA State Golf Championships for boys and girls at the end of the season.<br>
