FAYETTEVILLE - A suburban county south of Atlanta has voted against joining a bus service proposed by the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority.
The Fayette County Commission took the unanimous vote last night.
Commissioners said residents don't like mass transit and would not ride buses.

Commissioners also complained that GRTA (Greta) is unfairly withholding $13 million in road improvement money unless the county agreed to join the program and pay $1.3 million in initial operating costs.
Eleven other metro Atlanta counties have agreed in concept to the bus service. It is designed to reduce traffic congestion and air pollution.
Cherokee County also has stayed out of the plan.
