The title game of the 19th Annual Northeast Georgia Mountains Cup soccer tournament is set for Saturday and one of the finalists may surprise some folks.
West Hall is not the surprise. The 10th ranked Lady Spartans are 8-1 after a 4-0 shut-out of Winder-Barrow Thursday night. Their opponent at West Hall Saturday for the championship though, could raise some eyebrows.
After the first half at Billy Ellis Memorial Stadium ended in a scoreless tie, Lakeview battled hard to get by Johnson (1-4-1) 5-3 to earn the right to face West Hall for the Cup; the first time Lakeview has played for the title.
Barrett Willis had a hat trick for the Lady Lions in the win.
In non-Cup play Thursday, the Gainesville girls took a road win, shutting out Monroe Area 4-nil.
