Clemson whips South Alabama in baseball

CLEMSON, S.C. - Khalil Greene and Jeff Hourigan each homered as Clemson beat South Alabama 13-1 on Friday night. <br>

Matt Henrie (3-0) pitched 7 1/3 innings and gave up one earned run on five hits leading the Tigers (13-0). He struck out three and walked one, allowing just two hits in the first seven innings. <br>
<br>
Mel Spivey (0-3) pitched five innings and gave up nine hits and five earned runs in the loss for the Jaguars (11-8). <br>
<br>
Clemson scored first in the fourth inning. Kyle Frank led the inning off with a double and Khalil Greene's base hit drove him in. <br>
<br>
Hourigan got his second homer of the year in the fifth. The Tigers added two more runs after Steve Pyzik, David Slevin and Frank had singles. Slevin scored on an error. <br>

Jeff Baker singled to start the sixth and scored on Michael Johnson's double. Johnson scored on a wild pitch. <br>
<br>
South Alabama, down 6-0 in the eighth, loaded the bases with one out after scoring a run. But reliever Thomas Boozer struck out the only batter he faced and closer Paul Harrleson got the next batter to groundout. <br>
<br>
Clemson scored seven runs in the bottom of the eighth.
