ATLANTA- A proposed bill in the Georgia House would allow all-terrain vehicles, or ATVs, to travel on unpaved county roads, if the individual county allows it.
That's drawing controversy from opponents who say Georgia forests have already sustained a million dollars worth of damage because of ATVs and four wheelers.
The Atlanta Journal and Constitution reports that the proposed bill would give ATV riders access to 12-hundred miles of road in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest.
Opponents include Roswell resident, Dan Bowden, who says he was almost mowed down by an ATV on the Appalachian trial.
The bill has cleared committee and will now go to the Georgia House.
