Vandy beats LSU

BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA - Jeff Little pitched a complete game and gave up one earned run and John Kaye went 2-for-4 with three RBIs as Vanderbilt beat LSU 9-2 on Saturday. <br>

Little (4-1) struck out three, walked one and got the win. His unearned run came in the sixth inning, on Wally Pontiff's RBI single. <br>
<br>
Vanderbilt (12-4, 1-1 Southeastern Conference) took a 3-1 lead in the fourth on Kaye's two-run home run. Kaye hit an RBI sacrifice and Sean Luellwitz hit an RBI single in the fifth inning to put the Commodores up 5-1. <br>

Sean Luellwitz hit an RBI sacrifice and Scott Vanderhoff scored on Weylin Guidry's wild pitch to make the score 7-2 in the seventh. Tony Mansolino singled for an RBI in the ninth and later scored on third baseman Pontiff's fielding error. <br>

Starter Lane Mestepey (3-2) took the loss for LSU (14-7, 1-1), giving up four earned runs on nine hits and no walks in six innings. <br>
<br>
Lukas Guidroz relieved Mestepey in the seventh and gave up two earned runs on a hit and two walks without retiring a batter. Brad David retired the one batter he faced in relief of Guidroz. <br>
<br>
Guidry pitched 2 2/3 innings and gave up an earned run on three hits and no walks.
