Bell resigns from Macon women's college

MACON - Nora Kizer Bell has resigned after five years as president of Wesleyan College to take similar position at Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia. <br> <br> Both are women liberal arts schools with similar enrollments. <br> <br> Bell, Wesleyan&#39;s 23rd president and its first female leader, was in Roanoke Monday for the announcement. Her resignation from Wesleyan is effective June 30th. She starts at Hollins on July first. <br> <br> Hollins has an enrollment of 818 in undergraduate programs and 273 in graduate studies and has a nationally recognized creative-writing program. <br> <br> The 60-year-old Bell was diagnosed 18 months ago with multiple myeloma, a rare form of cancer, but has since undergone chemotherapy and the cancer is in remission. <br> <br> Bell&#39;s husband, David, will remain as president of Macon State College. He said he and his wife have had parallel careers for 25 years, often with four-hour commutes.
