It was a busy Monday on the high school baseball diamonds.<br>

The West Hall Spartans won their Region 8-AAAA opener in Loganville, knocking off Grayson 7-3.<br>
<br>
Eric Stephens led the Spartan offense, going 2-for-4 with a double, 2RBI, and a stolen base. Trent Smallwood doubled and scored twice. Michael Whiting struck out nine got the victory for West Hall (2-7, 1-0) which is slated to host Cedar Shoals Wednesday evening.<br>
<br>
Oconee County scored a 5-0 shut-out at North Hall in another region 8-AAAA game. Clayton Hester and Mark Seabolt got one hit each for the Trojans (4-7, 0-1) who are scheduled to play at Habersham Central Friday evening.<br>

Lakeview's baseball team pounded Providence 15-zip Monday.<br>
<br>
J.B.Little had a grand slam and wound up driving in six runs.<br>
<br>
Ross McIntyre had a 3-for-3 game with a homer, 4RBI, and four runs scored. Dustin Wellborn had a 2-for-4 game for the Lions.<br>

Brian Brown spun a two-hitter in the game shortened by the mercy rule. <br>
<br>
The Lions (7-3, 1-0 in 8-A) are scheduled to host Jefferson Wednesday afternoon.<br>
<br>
East Hall erupted for seven runs in the last two innings and beat Union County 10-3.<br>
<br>
Richard Riley went the distance and struck out nine in picking up the win.<br>
<br>
Justin Smith had a fine day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with 4RBI. Matt Christoph contributed a two-run home run for the Vikings.<br>

East Hall (6-3, 3-1 8-AA) is scheduled to host Towns County Friday evening.<br>

Also Monday, Lumpkin County walloped Lumpkin County 16-4, scoring 10 times in the third in the contest in Hiawassee.<br>

Justin Brown not only struck out 11, he hit a three-run homer run for the Indians in the win.<br>
<br>
Lumpkin County (5-1-1, 3-0 8-AA) is scheduled to host Dawson County Wednesday afternoon.<br>
<br>
In Tuesday baseball, Gainesville is slated to host South Gwinnett, and South Forsyth is scheduled to be at home with Norcross.<br>
