New Jersey casinos banned from using Arthur Andersen

ATLANTIC CITY, NEW JERSEY - Arthur Andersen has come up a loser with New Jersey casinos. <br>

The state Casino Control Commission has voted unanimously to force casinos and their parent companies to sever ties with Andersen by May 15th. The regulators say public confidence in Atlantic City casinos would be undermined if Andersen was allowed to keep working as a casino industry vendor. <br>
<br>
The commission rejected arguments that the company's New Jersey unit shouldn't be punished for the actions of Andersen in the Enron scandal. <br>
<br>
The order does not extend to operations in other states, as state Attorney General David Samson had recommended. <br>
<br>
Last year six casinos did a total of $2.1 million worth of business with Arthur Andersen.
