Milwaukee airport to be served by AirTran

MILWAUKEE - AirTran Airways has announced plans to start serving Mitchell International Airport later this year with flights to Atlanta and several Florida cities. <br>

AirTran said it will begin nonstop service to Orlando, Florida, and Atlanta from Milwaukee starting in June. It said it plans to add nonstop service to Tampa, Florida, in October and to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in November. <br>
<br>
Some of the one-way fares are to range from $68-$89. <br>
<br>
Milwaukee would be the 38th city served by AirTran, and its third new market this year. <br>
<br>
The airline, which is taking delivery of 20 new Boeing 717 jets in 2002, said it expects to expand 20 percent this year. <br>
<br>
Mitchell airport director Barry Bateman said he expects AirTran's arrival to bring a boost in passenger traffic at Milwaukee. <br>
<br>
Mitchell had 5.6 million travelers last year, down from six million in 2000.
