CLEMSON, S.C. - Clemson used a 10-run first inning to jump to a 16-7 lead over Maryland on Saturday in a game suspended in the middle of the eight inning because of rain.
The teams will finish the game Sunday at 1 p.m., then play the series finale.
The Tigers sent 14 batters to the plate in the first, scoring 10 runs off starter Todd Ainesworth.
Ainesworth had only allowed seven earned runs all season coming into the game.
Trailing 16-7, the Terrapins loaded the bases with one out. But shortstop Khalil Greene made a diving backhand stop on a one-hopper and turned the double play.
The game was then suspended because of rain.
