NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE - Vincent Yarbrough hit a one-handed jumper with 4.3 seconds remaining as Tennessee held off a furious rally in beating Vanderbilt 67-65 Saturday afternoon for the Volunteers' third straight victory.

Vanderbilt (13-8, 3-5 Southeastern Conference) tied the game at 65 on a 3-pointer by Chuck Moore with 18.1 left. Moore had one last shot to force overtime, but his running one-hander went in and rolled out at the buzzer.

Tennessee (11-10, 4-4) led by as much as 20 points several times in the second half before Vanderbilt finally got going.

Brendan Plavich scored all 12 of his points in the final 10:21 as he jumpstarted an 18-6 that pulled the Commodores within single digits.

For the Volunteers, it was only their fourth victory at Memorial Gym in the past 15 games and their second SEC road victory. Tennessee now has won its last three games decided by five points or less after losing their first seven such games.

Yarbrough finished with 21 points. Marcus Haislip followed with 18, including eight of the Volunteers first 11 points. Brandon Crump scored 12 points and Jenis Grindstaff had 10.

The first half had all the makings of a blowout as Vandy was only as close as 2-2 before Tennessee went up by as much as 37-20 on consecutive 3s by Yarbrough. Vandy hit only six field goals in its worst half of the season in trailing 39-20 at halftime.

But after shooting 51.6 percent in the first half, the Vols couldn't find the net after the break hitting only 32 percent of their shots.

Vanderbilt took advantage even with leading scorer Matt Freije on the bench for all but two minutes of the second half. He had been the only SEC player to score in double digits in each of his starts until Saturday, averaging 16.2 points a game. He had seven points.

Brian Thorton finished with 10 points for the Commodores.
