Auburn opens baseball season with impressive win

AUBURN, ALABAMA - Bobby Huddleston batted in two runs on four hits to lead Auburn over Virginia Commonwealth 11-3 on Friday. <br>

Starting pitcher Levale Speigner went six innings, allowed only two unearned runs, struck out five and got the win for the Tigers (1-0). <br>
<br>
VCU (0-1) dropped the first game of the season after falling behind early and giving up three runs in the second inning. <br>
<br>
The win was Auburn's eighth in its last nine season openers. <br>
<br>
By the fourth inning, the Tigers had broken the game open and taken a 9-1 lead. <br>
<br>
Auburn's young team started six newcomers, including four freshmen. <br>
<br>
Everyone in the lineup got at least one hit except for a pitcher. <br>
<br>
Matt Davis scored VCU's first run in the third inning after reaching base on an error. <br>
<br>
VCU also scored unearned runs in the sixth and eighth innings.
