Man, 75, accused of firing shots at another motorist

COLUMBUS - A 75-year-old man was released on $3,500 bond Friday after being charged with firing several shots at a minivan driven by an 82-year-old. <br> <br> Herbert Welch, of Meriwether County, pleaded innocent to charges of aggravated assault and aggressive driving. <br> <br> Kenneth Childs, a retired Army sergeant and former truck driver, was uninjured in Thursday&#39;s shooting, but his 1993 Dodge Caravan was damaged from shots fired at the left tail light along the driver&#39;s side. <br> <br> Childs said Welch had been tailgating his vehicle for more than a mile. Welch told police that Childs would not allow him to pass and instead, sped up to prevent him from doing so.
