ATLANTA - State tax collections have dropped again.

They were down in January for the seventh month in a row. But the state's economist says the dip was expected - and it won't cause the governor to change his spending plans.

The state took in $1.3 billion for January. That's down $81 million, or 5.7 percent, from the same month a year ago.
Governor Barnes has recommended $215 million in spending cuts in the current budget to make up for the sluggish economy.
He also wants a $1.3 billion debt-financed building program to help jolt the state out of the recession.
