ALBANY - The husband of an Albany woman killed in the bombing of Centennial Olympic Park is asking the county's help to build a park in her memory.

John Hawthorne wants to build a 71-acre park in memory of his wife, Alice Stubbs Hawthorne. He says the park might include a skating rink and a water park.

The City of Albany already has voiced its support of the project and is expected to free up $50,000.

Mrs. Hawthorne died when the bomb exploded in the park on July 27th, 1996. Her daughter - Fallon Stubbs - who was then 14, was wounded.

(WALB-TV, David Fuller)
