Samford stuns Auburn

AUBURN, ALABAMA - Derek Tharpe held Auburn to two runs and had seven strikeouts as Samford won 5-2 on Tuesday. <br>

Tharpe pitched 7.1 innings and walked one. Ehren Wasserman didn't allow a hit as he closed the game. <br>
<br>
Joe Denson hit a solo home run for Samford (4-0) in the fifth inning, and the Bulldogs added two more in the ninth to seal the victory. <br>
<br>
Auburn (3-1) couldn't get a rally going and stranded four runners on the basepaths. <br>
<br>
Samford's Cory Sumner drove in the two ninth-inning runs with a two-out triple down the right field line. <br>
<br>
Andrew Skinner received his first loss of the season and allowed three earned runs. <br>
<br>
Tug Hulett scored in the fourth inning and drove in the other Auburn run on a single in the eighth inning.
