Saints split with Southwestern

DAHLONEGA- It was a split on their home court for the North Georgia College and State University basketball teams Thursday night.<br> <br> Led by Keisha Hall&#39;s 24 points, the #5 ranked (NAIA) Lady Saints went to 25-2 overall and 10-1 in the Georgia-Alabama- Carolina Conference by knocking off Georgia Southwestern State University 78-53.<br> <br> The male Saints (8-18, 3-11 GACC) fell to Southwestern 82-75.<br> <br> North Hall grad Courtney Hester popped in 19 points and pulled down seven defensive rebounds for the North Georgia women. Lakeview alum Holly Vandiver added five points, a rebound, a steal, and an assist in the win.<br> <br> Georgia Southwestern was paced by Tamara Clark&#39;s 25 points and 13 rebounds and Thkisha McCorvey&#39;s 16 points and seven boards.<br> <br> Matt Cunningham led North Georgia with 20 points. Joe Montgomery added 16 and Jamar Tyler 15 in the loss.<br> <br> Georgia Southwestern had three men in double figure scoring. Kevin Griffin led all scorers with 23, followed by Gary Wilson 22. Willie Reddick contributed 11 points to the win.<br> <br> Both North Georgia teams are slated to host Brewton-Parker Saturday night beginning with the women&#39;s game at 6:00.<br> <br> Elsewhere, East Hall grad Antione Whelchel played well on both ends of the court with 16 points, six rebounds, and five assists as Murray State (14-11, 8-5 Ohio Valley Conference) took their fifth straight victory-a 77-76 nail-biter on the road at Eastern Illinois (14-12, 6-6).<br> <br> Whelchel and the Racers are next scheduled at Southeast Missouri Saturday night.<br>
