Student cut during fight at school in Cobb County

POWDER SPRINGS - Authorities have charged a 17-year-old in connection with a fight at McEachern High School in Cobb County in which one student was cut with a pocketknife. <br>

Cobb County schools spokesman says the injury during the fight Thursday was minor, but the knife attack is being taken seriously. <br>
<br>
Michael Jerome Parker is charged with aggravated assault and possession of a knife on school property. <br>
<br>
Dillon says the fight at the school in Powder Springs started among eight to ten teen-agers after lunch period in front of the fine arts building. <br>
<br>
A coach saw one of the students pull a pocketknife. Dillon says the coach grabbed the student and knocked the knife out of his hand. <br>
<br>
He says a campus police officer handcuffed the student. <br>
<br>
An 18-year-old student was cut on the back and taken to a hospital for treatment. <br>
<br>
School officials will decide what disciplinary action to take against the students involved.
