Alabama Senator proposes NCAA restriction bill

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - An Auburn University fan in the state Senate proposed legislation Tuesday that would set out legal guidelines for NCAA investigations in the state. <br>
<br>
Sen. George Callahan, R-Theodore, said he decided to offer the legislation after talking to some University of Alabama fans in Mobile County. <br>
<br>
The National Collegiate Athletic Association recently cited Alabama for recruiting violations and levied punishment that included a reduction in football scholarships and a two-year ban on bowl appearances. <br>
<br>
Callahan's bill would apply the state's court procedures to athletic investigations and would make the NCAA's findings subject to review in circuit court. <br>

"I am an Auburn fan, but I believe in fair play and that's what this legislation is all about," Callahan told the Senate<br>
