Jury deciding fate of Georgia doctor accused of murder

BRUNSWICK - Jurors began deliberating Thursday in the murder for hire trial of Doctor Carl Drury, who told them allegations he wanted a hit man to kill his wife were ``a vicious lie. I love my wife. I loved her then. I love her now.&#39;&#39; <br> <br> The 62-year-old Drury is charged with plotting to murder his wife Mary Drury in four telephone calls last August and with giving the undercover agent a gun to commit the crime. He faces up to life in prison. <br> <br> When the defense rested its case, there were no other witnesses supporting Drury&#39;s claim that a jealous friend duped him into pretending he wanted his wife killed as part of a police training scenario. <br> <br> Drury said he tried to tell agents of the scheme when he was arrested at a pay phone August 24. <br> <br> Drury said, ``I said this is a mistake, You don&#39;t understand what you&#39;re doing. I tried to tell the arresting officers about ... the role-playing and they just hushed me up.&#39;&#39; <br> <br> Assistant U.S. Attorney Darrin McCullough, in his closing argument, called Drury&#39;s defense ``a fantasy, a fairytale made up out of whole cloth. Doctor Drury was caught red-handed. He knows the evidence is stacked up against him, so he does the only thing he can do. He says I never meant any of those things I said. It was all pretend.&#39;&#39;
