Brunswick doctor will appeal conviction

BRUNSWICK - The lawyer for a Brunswick doctor convicted of trying to hire a hit man to kill his wife plans an appeal. <br> <br> A federal court jury in Brunswick deliberated for about four hours Thursday before reaching its verdict against Doctor Carl Drury. <br> <br> The 62-year-old Drury faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. U.S. District Judge Dudley Bowen did not set a sentencing date, which could come in up to 60 days. <br> <br> Drury attorney Ed Garland of Atlanta said he plans to file a motion for a new trial challenging some of Bowen&#39;s rulings during the case, which must be done within seven days. If that fails, Garland said Drury will appeal to the Eleventh U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta. <br> <br> Drury told the jury that allegations he wanted a hit man to kill Mary Drury were ``a vicious lie.&#39;&#39; Drury was charged with plotting to murder her in four telephone calls last August and with giving the undercover agent a gun to commit the crime.
