Japan's auto production rises

TOKYO - Japan&#39;s auto production in January rose 4.9 percent from a year ago to 782,401 vehicles, the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association said Tuesday. <br> <br> Domestic vehicle demand was down 2.1 percent in January from the previous year to 369,003 vehicles, but growth in exports, mostly to North America, lifted production, the first rise in five months, the group said. <br> <br> The fall of the yen against the U.S. dollar, which helps boost automakers&#39; overseas earnings, also helped lift exports, it said.
