Company to pay $5,000 penalty over no-call complaints

DENVER - A Georgia lending company has agreed to pay five-thousand dollars in the first case of follow-up action for a company accused of violating Colorado&#39;s no-call telemarketing law. <br> <br> The state attorney general&#39;s office said six more companies are under investigation for continued complaints of calling numbers on a list of people who don&#39;t want calls from telemarketers, even though the companies had been ordered to stop. <br> <br> First Atlantic Mortgage, based in Norcross, Georgia, received a cease-and-desist order in July and agreed to stop, but the state received more complaints that it called numbers on the no-call list. <br> <br> Penalties of two-thousand dollars per violation and a lawsuit could result if there are more violations. <br> <br> Mortgage or consumer loan companies have been the most frequent subject of complaints, followed by telephone services, credit card solicitors, home improvement and travel calls.
