ATLANTA - Governor-elect Sonny Perdue told area business leaders today he needs their help to get Georgia through challenging economic times.
Perdue, in an address to the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, said the resources of the region's $175 billion economy is key to growth, and he pledged to work with businesses.
Perdue says he wants to empower innovation by limiting regulations on businesses.
State officials have warned of a possible budget shortfall, and some have called for more cuts throughout state government. They have warned that the state's economic recovery has not been sufficient to meet budgetary needs.
During his speech, Perdue, a Republican, stayed away from policy issues for the most part, instead focusing on the partnership he wants to form with the business community.
