Georgia PSC swears in its first woman commissioner

ATLANTA - Angela Elizabeth Speir, the state's first woman elected o the Public Service Commission, was sworn in by Governor Barnes Monday. <br>

The 35-year-old Duluth woman, an employment recruiter, begins a six-year-term on the commission on January 1. <br>
<br>
The commission regulates the state's electric, telephone and natural gas utilities. <br>
<br>
Speir is a Republican. Last month she defeated Democratic commissioner Lauren ``Bubba'' McDonald Jr. in his bid for re-election by winning 47.6 percent of the vote.
