Security eased at Atlanta airport

WASHINGTON - The federal government is easing some of the security measures imposed since September eleventh at major airports, including Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport. <br> <br> Beginning Monday, officials will open parking lots at the country&#39;s biggest airports that have been off-limits because of worries about car bombs. <br> <br> Transportation Security Administration officials say there also will be changes in the way travelers are screened after passing through security checkpoints over the next few weeks. <br> <br> Under the revised procedure, fewer people will be screened a second time at randomly selected gates. <br> <br> TSA officials say new layers of airport security allow the rules to be eased -- citing a better-trained screener work force, federal air marshals, background checks of people who work beyond airport security checkpoints and screening of checked baggage at 252 airports.
