Police said Brown and Gerard Glenn, 14, of Chamblee tried to steal her car as she arrived home from a convenience store.

Brown was sentenced to life in prison and must serve 14 years before he can be considered for parole. He had faced a maximum of two life sentences but accepted a plea bargain instead.

Glenn, charged as an adult with Maddox's murder, was found hanged at a youth detention center earlier this year.
