ATLANTA - An Atlanta man charged with the death of a Georgia State University student during a carjacking was sentenced to life in prison, officials said.
Antonio Brown, 22, pleaded guilty Tuesday to the murder of Amber Maddox on Nov.2, 2001.
Maddox, 21, was shot at least five times in the driveway of her father's home last year. Police said Brown and Gerard Glenn, 14, of Chamblee tried to steal her car as she arrived home from a convenience store.
Brown was sentenced to life in prison and must serve 14 years before he can be considered for parole. He had faced a maximum of two life sentences but accepted a plea bargain instead.
Glenn, charged as an adult with Maddox's murder, was found hanged at a youth detention center earlier this year.
