Four Colombian women arrested in Wal-Mart thefts

COLUMBIA, TENNESSEE - Four women police believed to be part of a multistate shoplifting ring focusing on Wal-Mart stores are in jail after fleeing from police with $4,700 in merchandise from the Wal-Mart in Columbia. <br> <br> The Bogota, Colombia, women are thought to be part of a group of about 90 traveling shoplifters who have stolen thousands of dollars in merchandise from Wal-Marts in Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia during the last month, police said. <br> <br> In Tennessee, authorities said stores in Clarksville, Hendersonville, Savannah, Kimball, Pulaski and Union City have been hit. <br> <br> A large supply of computer printer cartridges were taken from the Columbia store on Tuesday, police said. The Wal-Mart in Winchester was the group&#39;s target on Wednesday, authorities said. <br> <br> Wal-Mart security in Winchester saw the women and alerted Franklin County authorities. An Estill Springs patrol officer later arrested the women without incident. <br> <br> Maury County Jail records identified the four as: Mary Ruth Perez Amando, believed to be 40 to 43; Bianca Nieves Bernal Garcia, 38 to 40; Janeth Gritan Rojas, 45, and Elizabeth Rozo, 32 to 40. <br> <br> They were taken first to the Franklin County Jail, where they were held for Columbia authorities. Each was charged and being held on $100,000 bail in the Maury County Jail.
