Former Richmond County officers sentenced on drug charges

AUGUSTA - Two former Richmond County sheriff&#39;s officers were sentenced to federal prison Friday on drug charges. <br> <br> U.S. District Court Judge H. Dudley Bowen Jr. sentenced former narcotics officer Ralph Tyrone Williams to 24 years and four months, and former sheriff&#39;s deputy Joseph Ellick to four years and nine months. <br> <br> Williams, 36, was convicted Sept. 23 of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of crack cocaine and conspiracy to interfere with commerce by extortion. <br> <br> Ellick, 34, had been charged with attempting to possess cocaine with intent to distribute. <br> <br> Attorneys for both men said they will appeal.
