Former Richmond County officers sentenced on drug charges

AUGUSTA - Two former Richmond County sheriff's officers were sentenced to federal prison Friday on drug charges. <br>
<br>
U.S. District Court Judge H. Dudley Bowen Jr. sentenced former narcotics officer Ralph Tyrone Williams to 24 years and four months, and former sheriff's deputy Joseph Ellick to four years and nine months. <br>
<br>
Williams, 36, was convicted Sept. 23 of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of crack cocaine and conspiracy to interfere with commerce by extortion. <br>
<br>
Ellick, 34, had been charged with attempting to possess cocaine with intent to distribute. <br>
<br>
Attorneys for both men said they will appeal.
