Black Enterprise magazine names Morehouse best college for blacks

ATLANTA - The publisher of Black Enterprise magazine says many historically black colleges are not receiving enough support from the black community. <br> <br> But publisher Earl Graves praised Morehouse College in Atlanta -- the alma mater of the Reverend Martin Luther King Junior and filmmaker Spike Lee -- as the top school in the magazine&#39;s poll of the ``50 Best Colleges for African-Americans.&#39;&#39; <br> <br> The survey ranked the best academic and social environments for black students. <br> <br> The magazine listed other Georgia schools as good places for black students: Atlanta&#39;s Spellman College, a women&#39;s college, was listed third-best; Clark Atlanta University placed 10th and Emory University was ranked 17th. <br> <br> Graves says other historically black schools are suffering from ``inadequate budgets, antiquated and underfinanced facilities and high staff turnover.&#39;&#39; <br> <br> Several of the schools have faced the loss of their accreditation, such as Morris Brown College in Atlanta. A dozen other black schools have closed in the last quarter-century, Graves said.
