Police served the murder warrant on Steven Teal, 35, in the death of Lou Ann Shatto, 39. Shatto's body was discovered at the Admiral Benbow Inn on November 27.
Teal was supposed to be arraigned Friday on other charges.
"He was scheduled to be in court for a committal hearing on the felony vehicle theft, and that hearing was waived and I guess postponed," Oakwood Police Chief Randal Moon said.
Moon said all along investigators have wanted to make sure they were right in the case.
"There was a key piece of evidence that did come in, that made sure that we were on the right track. When that evidence did come in the warrant was taken," Moon said.
The week of the murder, Hall County Coroner Marion Merck said Shatto died of blunt force trauma. Shatto of Red Key, Indiana, had been living in the area for four or five weeks. Teal is reportedly from south Georgia and had been employed in the Gainesville area.
"We haven't released a motive, other than they did know each other, and it was an apparent squabble," Moon said.
Moon said Teal would have first court appearance on the murder charge within 48 hours.
