Scott scored on a 71-yard run up the middle 58 seconds into the game. He ran for 6 yards with 1:56 remaining to end the scoring, and also had a 4-yarder midway through the second.
Fullback James Howard added 88 yards on 12 rushes.
Irish quarterback Quintez Smith, who was sacked nine times, completed 11 of 22 passes for 232 yards and an interception. Smith connected with Paul Sheffield on a 43-yard touchdown pass with 3:11 left in the second quarter.

Defensive end Dusty Reddick had 2.5 sacks, and defensive tackle Jamel Nelson added two for the Gamecocks.
Screven won the Region 2-AAA title the last four years. The Gamecocks were eliminated from the state playoffs last season with a 35-14 loss to Jackson.
