DECATUR - Agnes Scott College students and faculty will move in to a new $36.5 million science building when they return to campus in January.
The four-story building, on the southern end of the Presbyterian women's college, will provide classroom space for biology, chemistry, physics and psychology.
Twenty-two professors who teach those classes will share classrooms, offices and labs.
The college hopes to improve interdisciplinary studies in the sciences by locating the disciplines in the same building, said school spokesman Lee Dancy.
For example, students could weave biology and psychology together to find biological reasons for psychological disorders.
The new building the last in a four-year, $120 million building campaign can capitalize on the popularity of science as a major at the 910-student college, said admissions director Stephanie Balmer.
