ATLANTA - A 31-year-old Snellville man pleaded guilty Monday to two counts of conspiracy and possession of a firearm in a drug trafficking crime related to a series of home invasions.
Johnathan Dale was indicted with 15 other defendants last June for conspiracy to commit home invasions from January-December last year in Riverdale, College Park, Austell, Decatur, Union City and other parts of the metro Atlanta area.
Also under indictment in the case and scheduled for trial next December second is a Fulton County deputy sheriff accused of providing sheriff's uniforms and information to accomplices who invaded the homes of suspected drug dealers, stealing narcotics, jewelry and cash.
Thirty-three-year-old Deputy Brenda Wiggins provided the uniforms and information about the targets, according to the indictment.
Wiggins has been suspended with pay and is free on $25,000 bond.
Her lawyer, Akil Secret, said when she was indicted in July that Wiggins denies being involved in the distribution of narcotics or any direct involvement in home invasions.
The indictment said Wiggins participated in the conspiracy from April 2001 through December.
Dale could be sentenced to life in prison and fined up to two million dollars. Sentencing is scheduled for next January 29 before U.S. District Court Judge Clarence Cooper.
