ATLANTA - The debate over Georgia's flag is filtering into how state Democrats nominate a new Speaker of the House.
State Representative Larry Walker of Perry defended his role in helping change the state flag. He says, ``We have a tiger by the tail in trying to undo what is done.''
His rival for the top position in the House - Representative Terry Coleman of Eastman - offered no opinion on the change but says if Governor-elect Sonny Perdue pursues his promise to put the flag to a referendum, the measure ``will be placed in a committee where it will be debated and discussed...''
Walker told a caucus of metro-Atlanta Democrats today he thinks the right choice was made in changing the flag.
Coleman told the caucus in a separate meeting that the possibility of referendum on the flag would be initiated by the governor.
