BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA - Running back LaBrandon Toefield, who broke his left arm Oct. 5 against Louisiana-Lafayette, returned to the LSU practice field on Monday.
Toefield was exempted from contact, but had his helmet and shoulder pads on for the session.
``I'm not sure that he will be ready to play in this game, but maybe some time in the near future if he continues to make progress,'' coach Nick Saban said.

Toefield was LSU's leading rusher last season with 992 yards, which earned him First-Team All SEC honors. He had gained 323 yards in five games this season.

``The big thing we want to do is make sure that we are not putting him in any risk when he goes out there,'' Saban said.

Doctors had said Toefield would be out for six weeks after the injury. That would keep him off the field for two more weeks.
BACK IN THE BCS: LSU returned to the Bowl Championship Series rankings Monday at 13th. They were No. 9 in the first BCS poll on Oct. 21 but fell out after a 31-7 loss.
HALLOWEEN HEX: Once LSU gets past Halloween it's been practically unbeatable under coach Nick Saban.
The Tigers have a 10-1 record in games after October. LSU carries an eight-game November winning streak into Saturday's game against Alabama.

Last year the Tigers were 4-3 at the end of October then reeled off six straight wins to finish 10-3.
LSU's only loss in November under Saban was against Arkansas in 2000.
