Newnan Yamaha plant fined over worker's death

NEWNAN - A Yamaha Manufacturing plant received an $82,000 fine Wednesday for electrical hazards that led to a worker&#39;s death. <br> <br> Forty-six-year-old Eugene Pope died June first from an accident while he was doing electrical work at the plant. He suffered a fatal heart attack after he was struck with 480 volts of electricity. <br> <br> The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration announced the fine, saying that Pope was working on electrical equipment and power lines that had not been properly labeled and disconnected before work began. <br> <br> The fine included $63,000 for failing to label the equipment and an additional $25,000 for other safety failures, including not giving workers proper tools. <br> <br> Yamaha has 15 days to appeal the citation.
