Valdosta State hosts Catawba in playoff action

Valdosta State has reeled off eleven consecutive victories since it last faced the Catawba Indians, the team that knocked the Blazers out of the NCAA Division Two playoffs a year ago. That 37-to-34 overtime setback came in the quarterfinals of the playoffs.<br> <br> Saturday&#39;s 1 p.m. game in Valdosta will be in the opening round, and the Blazers are out for revenge.<br> <br> It is one of only three games on the small college slate for Georgia teams on Saturday, although two members of MEAC will meet in Atlanta -- South Carolina State and North Carolina A&T. The other games involving Georgia team has Alabama State at Savannah State at 1:30 p.m. and Morris Brown at Norfolk State at 1 p.m.<br> <br> Southern Conference champion Georgia Southern has the week off before its expected entry into the Division 1-AA playoffs next week.
