Meeting on park and rec plan

GAINESVILLE - About 30 people turned out for a meeting Thursday night on the Gainesville Parks and Recreation Department's long-range strategic plan.

Parks and recreation officials say new parks will be needed and existing facilities are badly in need of renovation.

However, department director Melvin Cooper says its far too early in the process to say where any new parks might be located. Thuersday night's meeting was the first of a series expected to be held on the new long-range plan.
