Sylmari Acosta, 17, was shot and killed. Two teenagers and a 20-year-old man were hit by gunfire, and another teen was struck by a car as he ran into the street.
Police said several suspects sped away in a dark-colored car.
Nearly 150 people, most of them students at Banneker High School, were celebrating a 14-year-old Derrick Moore's first year in high school, said his mother, Samantha Lee. There were eight adults present, she said.
``We just wanted to give the kids something nice to do, a chance to dance and have fun,'' Lee said.
Neither alcohol nor drugs were being used at the party, said Derrick Moore's stepfather, Reginald Bivins.
