Police arrest man suspected of stabbing wife in front of two children

MARIETTA - Police on Friday arrested a man suspected of stabbing his wife in front of her 16-year-old daughter and 11-year-old son.<br> <br> Police said David Sanders, 47, of Marietta stabbed 43-year-old Sheila Newson after an argument in the recently married couple&#39;s apartment.<br> <br> One of the children had called 911 about 2:40 a.m. to report the mother and stepfather were fighting, police said.<br> <br> Newson was pronounced dead at the scene.<br> <br> Police charged Sanders with murder and two counts of cruelty to children.<br> <br> Police spokesman Brian Marshall said the cruelty charges were filed because the stabbing happened in front of the children.<br> <br> Sanders was treated for minor cuts at a hospital before being placed under arrest. He was held without bond Friday in a Cobb County jail.<br> <br> Marshall said the children were placed in the care of family friends until extended family members arrived from outside Georgia.
