SAVANNAH - The South Carolina NAACP opens it annual conference in Savannah Friday -- instead of in its home state -- to protest the flying of the Confederate flag on Statehouse grounds.
The state group's president -- James Gallman -- says he wants to ``encourage all people of good will to take their tourism dollars to states that do not glorify a symbol of division and treason.''
About 500 people are expected to attend the conference, which runs through tomorrow.
Other topics being discussed are predatory lending, affordable housing, criminal justice and the NAACP prison program.
