DONALSONVILLE - Students are back in school in southwest Georgia's Seminole County after a two-week break caused by serious flooding.
Moldy books and bare floors didn't stop the students from returning to class Monday.
Governor Barnes declared the counties of Seminole, Decatur and Miller counties disaster areas after storms spawned by Tropical Storm Hanna swept across the area last month.
The National Weather Service reported that nearly 15 inches of rain fell on Donalsonville during a 24-hour period, most of it falling on September 15.
About 300 families and 30 businesses were displaced by the floodwaters in Seminole County.
One ten-year-old student tells WALB-TV in Albany that the time off from school was spent ``throwing out carpets, throwing stuff away, pulling dressers out.''
