DIXIE - After starting the season with just 11 healthy players, Westbrook School has been forced to cancel its four remaining games because of injuries.

The private school in Dixie, about 10 miles from the Florida line between Quitman and Thomasville, finished with only eight defenders in its last game, a 48-0 loss to Westwood.

The Cougars were 0-6, losing by a combined margin of 212-8.

First-year head coach Mark Johnson said three players had knee injuries in recent weeks, including center C.W. Jones. The Cougars lost nine seniors off a 19-man roster that went 4-6 in 2001, snapping a four-year winless streak.

Headmaster Donald Murphy said the school intends to field a team next fall.
