PEACHTREE CITY - Peachtree City south of Atlanta is known for its miles of golf cart paths.

The City Council's recent decision to lower the driving age from 16 to 15 is creating a minor traffic jam when McIntosh High School lets out for the day.

Principal Greg Stillions says it's unsafe to put cars and golf carts in close proximity. He doesn't allow the golf carts to park on the McIntosh campus.

But cars and carts mix five days a week on a short city street behind the school's football stadium. The spot behind the school is where students have parked the carts for years.

About 130 carts were parked on the street Monday.

The parking problem may get worse. The school board is expanding McIntosh to accommodate 1,800 students -- up from its current 1,500.

School officials have considered building a parking lot for golf carts. But Stillions says that's unlikely since McIntosh has little available land.
